I have been taking 16 credits this fall. Classes have included Physics and another Math class. My family is quite excited for me to be done with math. I may be complaining a lot and possibly loudly.

Bart was released from the Bishopric last week. It has been such a treat to watch him serve. He has always been so willing to let me steal the show. He served with Dr. Mark Firth as Bishop and Spencer Parkinson as the other counselor. Bart has loved every opportunity he has had. He came home and roamed around the house for two whole hours. Today he was sustained as the new 1st counselor in the Young Men's Presidency. He will be great and Josh will remind him when he is not :).

My guy is the cute one on the right.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6hldhJfgk2RQRnYc3IlFmh4lNljoBmwZrDa0lgceodjSQBrPew_6UNjHU0b-EMre6aDC8i3WsoWZnADZycQfW9BPmPQhFPBj3N-w6tueb-P5BQCeQrsP0QtIIkP_x8KmuNSm5U1Rvdjw/s320/DSCN2362.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5544854308885626482" />Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-91561079579959785992010-08-30T14:29:00.002-06:002010-08-30T14:36:11.003-06:00First Day of School BluesOK, I am back in school after my very long break, NOT. I had myself ready to go, backpack loaded, notebooks labeled and pencils sharpened. My first class was math and I started this semester with a can do attitude. Then ... it rained and not just a little summer shower, it rained a lot and it is still raining. You know your in trouble when you come home to have a hot shower and the HOT is just warm and you are soaked through your jacket, shirt and bra. I hope this is not a sign for the upcoming semester. Blues skies ahead, right?!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh0pAf0vzUnS3mz-R1uinx7GabCxbNrBoS-gTkmVVL8dW50Y2pjeYHAqxUPoSWIGxrjjMUJNV7DGsZwprInWb_vfk5djSdjzK7MpGzN3w7oMJNzdYDZw7l69WPbHjqZPUKgAIMSa42rIg/s320/039.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511304287425903698" />Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-42828068487549950122010-08-14T23:09:00.002-06:002010-08-14T23:16:05.123-06:00Dead Tree Branches GONEWhat do you get when you combine an eager friend with 3 chain saws and extended ladder and years of over grown trees. I would let you see but a daughter whom shall not be named (Jessica) took my cute red camera on a cruise. I will tell you, you get 3 piles, mini-hills filled with branches. The best part is seeing the blue sky, the worst seeing all of ground that needs attention. I hope to prove my dilemena as soon as the girls come home from their cruise. Lucky for Bart he did not die, but I'm sure he wants to kill me.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-63426890500233033762010-08-08T20:13:00.002-06:002010-08-08T20:24:37.132-06:00I made it!Hello Blog World, I am not dead. My brain is tired and my back-pack never weighed more than when I was trudging to the van on a hot summer afternoon. That's right I went to summer school. When I was a girl, summer school was for the students who did not do well during the school year, or for those who sloughed a lot. For the first time in my life I went to summer school, and paid for it. The positives: one more semester closer to graduation and relaxed professors. The negatives: very fast and furious pace,and my yard looks HORRIBLE!!! I have a little break before Fall starts. The good news is I was accepted into my program, that is, the education program. I start my levels in the Spring. Josh starts school in less than 10 days and will be starting his junior year. I love this boy, he is so kind to me. I hope to get things a little under control before Fall starts, but life happens so you never know. Hayden has been on his mission for almost 5 months and my girls are on a cruise. (I am not jealous!)Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-13196497753812614142010-05-13T17:42:00.010-06:002010-05-13T17:55:21.599-06:00Graduated Girl!!!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 313px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlCQyuBDa4B0mfmk-824eJcYmJYXywm2_Ox76jbwnDJ32V-HVqIw53LQg5UNEHSM8T9JEqb66dcLqXZ5JfBb5TDt57vWKnB4cyVuG8lC69qBmBk4k0sXAqhpF__CRpHfvLTZIZoFSBaz4/s320/017.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5470904799427325714" />

This girl of mine has graduated from the University of Utah and she is only 22! We went to Thanksgiving Point and enjoyed the day away.

Back to the school work, but the best thing that had been said to me lately is from my mom, "Get your homework done or I will have to ground you!" I know I am not supposed to wish my life away, but this semester has been quite grueling. Since my last post, I have sent a missionary to Canada. He is doing really well and is having is first baptism with another in the wings. Josh has turned 16 and is playing high school baseball. I finished a bathroom mini-makeover. Helped with a few family crisis'. Written a few paper, done a lot of math problems, read hundreds of pages. Made a blanket, cleaned a closet, forgot how to do dishes, remembered that if you don't go to the grocery store food does not show up in your house. Enough with the complaining!!! I am very glad for my life, I have a lovely and lively family. Bart has been great, this semester, but moaned out loud when he found out I would need to take a Physics class as well as Statistics soon. Adrienne graduates from college on May 7, she is amazing. She has done college all on her own and will graduate with a bachelor's degree in Economics with a minor in Finance.

In approximately two weeks: I will weed my flowers, plant my garden boxes. Buy my text-books, do my dishes every day. I hope to sleep until I wake without an alarm and not see a word document for 10 days.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-79174701830584473412010-03-02T00:39:00.002-07:002010-03-02T00:52:10.352-07:00Sitting in the DarkSittin' in the dark, just sittin' in the dark, lookin like a fool just sittin' in the dark. I am thinking if I keep it dark my body will do that thing called sleep. Unfortunately my mind won't quit. I tend to make lists, or go over my day or memorize math facts lately. Hayden has 16 days until he enters the MTC and I do not have all the shopping done. Josh is trying out for baseball, Adrienne is applying for jobs and Jessica is trying to transfer to a new University. My bathroom is almost done and looks so cute, I will post pictures soon. Sunday I taught all of the youth in our ward and the funniest thing happened. I asked a young man to give the closing prayer, he did, but during it he said "help us to practice the stuff we learned today", well the "stuff" they learned was Prayer. Maybe next week I will work on the main idea a little harder. I think I have looked pretty bad lately because 2 different times people have brought over some dinner for me and the family. I am so thankful, but on the flip side quite embarrassed. I am going to sing at Hayden's sacrament meeting formally known as a farewell. I'm still not sure what yet, but I will figure it out.

Sorry about the rambling, but my mom is supposed to be getting her internet and Bart is sure she needs to read a current post from me. I hope I don't give her anymore stress. She has plenty of her own and Janalee tell the family doc, the sinus infection did NOT leave this body.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-46748786764788649292010-02-09T00:28:00.002-07:002010-02-09T00:43:19.830-07:00Sleep anyone?Why is it when you are tired and want to sleep, Sleep is the last thing that comes your way. The experts say try a cool dark room, check; with the exception of my spouse's habit of channel surfing. Quiet your mind, I have one question on this suggestion, HOW???? Get into a regular routine "they" say, do "they" have children, pets, a spouse, parents, jobs, school, homes...(you get the idea). Never oversleep, not a real option when you take medication to get you some sleep and you can't hear the alarm the next day. Don't NAP, but what about all the effort to get us to take a power nap? The only suggestion I found that seems to have some merit is this one, if you find you are only sleeping about 6 hours and getting up at 7 don't go to bed before 1 in the morning and this is supposed to help with the frustration of tossing and turning.

Sorry to vent, but I am getting cranky after several restless nights.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-14635712312140179422010-01-18T20:45:00.002-07:002010-01-18T21:01:06.376-07:00Mom = Can you take care of this?When did the title mom equal how do you spell this, or do you know where this or that is? Can you tell me how to?... or Is there something to eat?.... or is there any chocolate around here? I don't remember the time when I only had to think for only myself. Now it seems I need to think not only for myself but for every other person in my family. I have tried to help my children find their own shoes, by replying to their question with the answer I am sorry I have not worn them lately. They hate that answer, in fact they now preface every question with don't say you haven't worn them, but do you know where my shoes are? The funny thing about this mom phenomenon is that even in college, younger students come up to me for help. It even happens in stores, more often than not, I have to help others find something they are looking for.

Am I the only one that has this happen to them?Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-66649174300994656612010-01-04T19:02:00.010-07:002010-01-04T19:19:19.990-07:00Happy New Year<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8iZD6Ag6GWWzYXb2xMYXYI7igHJLzPOOOcYaRXR831_SxAQuSZ-AzPVQSYZpRVHjbWpcXG5yCV1BxoWZaUesQqcddN5Jkwr4iLH6pX9pGdeo_t1aIw9Xxpk07nYDYRMZCbSa89dirIh4/s320/086.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423073248801353698" />

2009 has come and gone and we are beginning a new decade. I am excited about all the possibilities a new year brings. Hayden will leave on his mission, Adrienne will graduate from college and Joshua will start driving and I never know where Jessica will be, her life is always in motion. I will finish my first year back at college and I am sure we will never be bored!!! Christmas was a sweet one this year. I enjoyed having my funny family together for 10 days. I don't think anyone slept much, but we ate well and played hard and laughed a lot. Hayden turned 19 January 2. I can't believe my little baby boy has grown into a fine young man. I am excited for him and all that is headed his way.

My friend Leisa came over Saturday and took some pictures of my silly family and I wish I could say they were all picture perfect, but if you have met my family that is not a reality. Most of the pics are silly and usually someone has funny eyes, but here is one of my favorites.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAZOogA0J71MRIt_m5rPLv2xVxsOrkVXUGOC_lq6WsUzboaehtHGATC71B5NvBABnXiKbHFDD2XL9ZvGfxK_L5gulCVtSrVduilMsBYGPQaB6a5VCa2WJKhDesyRrfOZ165t9KRDDxRP4/s320/053.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423072627676202498" />Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-55773286077816275682009-12-08T23:10:00.007-07:002009-12-08T23:27:18.376-07:00Christmas is Coming ... ready or notMy tree is up and decorated but the rest of the house is still getting decked out for the holidays. December has been filled with school projects and finals. I had 2 tests today and let's just say A's may be a thing of the past for now --- I have just gone through the freshman adjustment semester, but only one more test to go and then no more school for a month. I am looking forward for the family to gather this year. The girls will be home on Christmas Eve and we will giggle for about a week straight. I haven't been to the grocery store and I have no idea if Santa will find us this year, but maybe a miracle will visit. The best part of Christmas for me is the quiet times reading by the tree, and of course the all out game playing with the family!!!

I love my tree and I thought I would share one part of my Christmas with you and you might smile a little at Mr. Santa. He is handmade and has 3 more brothers floating around the family, someday Janalee yours will get done.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 218px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBLI58WnXh8TzWfYiBp5EnGI6F-SLo9eyuodRg6FPM27GaQK6iWffu1fbfJHWSMSj5Fuc4qE6atZyg15dlnMy3hkO0u1wx_G1Kio50qmMiCJXZZnC8SsWuxpquH7bztUN2VYUguZYjZHY/s320/045.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413117674251732498" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 164px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_vdKKWEqAO6qnacEG3KiXSDmqcvp8KJy5tj-piu8l29f-70wHNwQOeYgYQFLaf7zg_8r_lYiKhuzB6xChR0ZhiXRpJ4seokqdrOirOm4sDSjlROjsDFuBp52jf-jYnkFRcLJAaEv_xx8/s320/046.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413117683922558898" />

Love to all!!!Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-80430159887763178612009-11-18T23:38:00.001-07:002009-11-18T23:50:38.381-07:00It happened!!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPrKmEo_rzhyphenhyphentHE9Sk3j2g6U0O4zm-qB6bu5GliHOct4weGOSceAQGyDODSCc0QRCWieSyz3QSMZmaFoq-zFk4kethtvMxD4sxGkwXVJVVHE5PsB_mGFpGrUgn9Vf6329Vj5L5EUNtw7w/s320/310.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405702786111246770" />
Hayden received his mission call today!!! Bart was such a good sport he was Wilbur and I was Charlotte (I wish you could see her in my hair better). I came up with the spider idea first, but didn't know what to do with Bart. I was talking to the boys about it and they mentioned Wilbur, I promptly told them that I thought no one would recognize my grandpa at the party and besides that where was I going to find overalls from the Sears Catalog. OK then they informed me they meant the pig from the book. I guess my brain is a little foggy from having 3 midterms this past week. Many of may not know my Dad's Father's name was Wilbur and his Mother's name was Lucy, cute huh.

Tomorrow my Dad has surgery to relieve pressure on his brain and I am praying for much success. He deserves it as well as my mom. I have often said getting old is not for sissies and I still haven't changed my mind. I turned 45 on Saturday and had a very quiet day. I got some sweet cards and the trick or treater's were darling. I loved the phone calls from family it is so nice to be thought of especially when you are feeling a little over-whelmed about this #. I don't think it would be so bad to be 45, but I am in college and that is a little weird. For the first time in a long time I was thinking being a little bit younger may not be so bad and then I remember I have children that are in their early 20's, so it is probably good to be 45. Maybe if I say it often enough it will get better. 45 45 45 45 45 45 45 45.................you get the idea!!!Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-50565991199890355722009-10-10T23:47:00.004-06:002009-10-11T00:01:38.345-06:00Lost Perspective<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 198px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZAQDYTWvGwu24jaT7JOPdOBojWJpACY89zIJMXgzicZUMkjkBNktzThSIEp1M_kxuPcnNmys3OrybRTMyJ1MqyjQLRe1_06zyP4h5FroFN6Aj-T62XRY9UkveaQpHzZVPsBMDkcB_DMY/s320/DSC_0050.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391215120060213090" />

Today I had one of those stupid days, where I feel overwhelmed and a little sorry for myself. I sat down to the computer to just try and make my mind calm down. I saw this picture and realized I have a lot to be thankful for. My grandma is a beautiful and lovely women and I happen to be her first grandchild. We had this photo shot at out last family reunion. I love it!!! She is a self-taught musician, one of my favorite things is to sing with her and she has raised a loving and close family. She is such a classy lady that we all fight over her clothes when she cleans out her closet. Her fridge always has a cold diet soda waiting to be shared and she always has time for a visit. I love when I found out about when her family was young; she would put off making dinner to finish one more chapter in the book (usually a romance novel) she was reading. She still is an avid reader. I consider that characteristic a little hereditary.

I love you grandma!!!Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-19017958275348539302009-10-04T21:11:00.002-06:002009-10-04T21:21:53.806-06:00Conference TraditionWe love conference at this house. I have a tradition of making Monkey Bread for Sunday morning breakfast and if I forget one of the children will remind me. Thanks Josh!!!

Here is the recipe: (I couldn't get a pic before they were devoured)

1 pkg. Pillsbury biscuits
3 T Butter
1/4 t. cinnamon
1/3 C. Brown sugar
2 T water

Melt the above ingredients and pour over the biscuits. Cut the biscuits in fourths and place in a greased pan. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

I usually multiply this by 3 or even 4 and a pizza cutter works really fast on cutting the dough.

I guess I have had kitchen withdrawals because besides the monkey bread I made Taco Soup, 2 loaves of chocolate zucchini bread and 2 loaves of regular zucchini bread. I made enough to put some in the freezer for later and I have a ham ready for Monday with some baked potatoes fresh from Idaho.

Conference was good as usual and I always feel ready to face the world afterwords. My favorite funny was when the Bishop had to be called to get the 80 year old off the ladder, I hope I always serve with that much gusto!!!

Have a good week and try to turn on your oven it not only feeds your family but feeds your soul.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-11087258199642317692009-09-29T23:20:00.002-06:002009-09-29T23:44:54.879-06:00A "Little" STRESSED!!!It may be a sign when you have words with a complete stranger over a parking spot. It happened to me on Monday. I let her have the spot and later I couldn't believe I even had a confrontation over the spot. Can you say... Take a chill pill, Shauna!!!

I am looking forward to a quiet week-end, without parking lots and birds in the kitchen. Your right, I had a bird fly into my kitchen. Thankfully Hayden was home and we trapped it with a blanket and used really long tongs to pick it up and were able to release it outside unharmed. I wish I could tell you I did this while being very composed, but those who know me would know that there was plenty of squealing involved!!Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-7193882314101863262009-09-21T07:50:00.002-06:002009-09-21T07:59:41.575-06:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT36jpT-LzPxLXyc-KHydAIO5gWCev1dnLOWmjPeD6SA3ZJF0t3yEgVIDLDqE0jdWkQnvcpPUJu9XySJtfNoJLVCVRt6OFkUmNs26h8TgkRHJhnFEApTy4PuID6DYb4OvgqPw4wAko3Y0/s320/004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383917977562040130" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivP2D9-Jpp9U9VnfV_1zeJR0r0SevI9yNU2X3cEjlkXKonNXs-mZ6D6311dk54_r7yzA1VLj7PjPVIEd9f8oXb6M4okVBaQOk1wNkVZWjgzowi-zyz7Fq2vqX_GqOm7SHUvIodBdoBwRg/s320/003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383917971933381906" />
What a beautiful day up Logan Canyon!!! Hayden and I spent the afternoon, Saturday, hiking around Tony Grove. The weather was perfect, the leaves are starting to change and the lake was calm. I have lived in Logan for over 25 years and had never been in this part of the canyon, shame on me. There is never a "perfect" time to do the things you want, so I have decided to let the dishes sit a little longer and maybe go one more day before the bathrooms get cleaned and do the things that are really important.

Life is short and there is so much beauty to see and be a part of . . . I hope you will take time to enjoy!!!

On a funnier note, I got invited to my first study group. A couple of cute "nerds" right out of high school asked me to join them in the library to study for our biology test. I told Adrienne and she is very pleased that I am making friends and Jessica reminded me once again that I am just reminding them of their mom's and they probably are hoping for some cookies. Wish me luck, I have 3 tests this week.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-43486366795671072052009-09-10T08:17:00.003-06:002009-09-10T08:34:10.831-06:00Happy Birthday Adrienne!!!!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 195px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-RORPRVAVMU1-RtJyF7GlG3SN0bggyy6SCFLvOtvclLJRVMXUDrb8dDG5B_KkdL5Jqs5Gic4-wVLySmCPuKSq9PV1Jox5kDMM4r3lBomJVF758fVBv-IKYI_f7WtGDyCAxEkXr4mBrVA/s320/029.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379846808233215026" />

Adrienne is 22 today. She is my 2nd daughter and such joy to have around. Adrienne is talented, smart, and FUNNY!!! I love this girl, when I found out I was expecting, I so wanted another girl. She was such a beautiful baby, people would stop me on the street to take a closer look. I had one woman tell me I should have a porcelain doll made like her. She is in her last year of college and she has done it all on her own. I love our phone conversations, and visits. Sugar cookie Thursday will never be the same since the Smith's "event". Adrienne has helped me with getting back in school. She never forgets a birthday in this family. She is a very loyal friend, in grade school her teachers relied on her to help those with special needs, even escorting classmates to the bathroom so they would come back to class. Can you believe in primary she was shy and would not participate until she was almost 12? She has a sweet relationship with her extended family.

I hope this coming year is filled with many exciting things for you. You deserve the best!!!

I love you!

MOMShaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-54886341163677118322009-09-03T20:05:00.003-06:002009-09-03T20:38:36.693-06:00Get your homework done!!!Oh how times have changed around my house. Gone are the days of me telling my children to get their homework done and now I hear Josh say, "Mom, come on let's get your homework done!" He is being so patient with me. My teacher, Mr. Hoggan, has been kind and patient as well. Wish me luck for my first real quiz tomorrow.

Remember when you had to use a notebook and pen/pencil to take notes, now students are using laptops more often. I am noticing that a lot of them are on facebook and e-mail accounts just as often as those taking additional notes with the teacher's PowerPoint.
Oh yeah, now it is suggested to print the PowerPoint presentations and bring them to class and use these as your note outlines. Mrs. Marriot would be discouraged with this, she taught me how to outline notes in the 7th grade.

I now have more empathy for my children and the stresses they face. I am trying to let some of the things I use to worry about go and keep my eye on the big picture. I am headed to my family reunion. There is about 100 of us and most will be there. My grandma looks forward to this all year long and it is such a joy to catch up with everyone. Too bad I will probably have to do a little homework while I am away.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-18695558335258152302009-08-30T21:26:00.003-06:002009-08-30T21:41:27.315-06:00New Chapter in my Life<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 284px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRMK3CZbFAi3ldg32Jr2R59RmPA0zZCK3150IyPlJ-BhuC8NUq5SV1_QZFaoxXQEaQ55RLCqNyec2L-a4fYj9pf9CceykZsNs9daT3Ufcit-wzwdOC_EhfaIcj2Lnxxp9u6krn_f2ytUw/s320/148.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5375965152817661202" />

I did it, I started school. I haven't been in school since 1984 and haven't had a math class since 1982. I am the oldest in my math class and Josh, my 15 year old son, helps me with my homework. My teacher taught my 3 oldest children in middle school, so I keep hoping he will treat me like a 7th grader. Josh tries really hard not to laugh at my silliness. I am taking a history/current events course and a biology course and my favorite an elementary education course. I have to be on campus every day. I have had my first blister, tripped once and got lost trying to find my van only once so far.

I think I can get adjusted, but on top of the new routine, my water heater broke. So we had cold showers all week, by friday everyone was a little irritable. The printer broke during a power surge in the middle of the night and did you know there is a lot of printing to do in college. I hope to have the basement finished by the weeks end.

WISH ME LUCK!!!!Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-27361032638677928022009-07-29T20:24:00.003-06:002009-07-29T23:08:50.583-06:00SummertimeI have a favorite song from primary and this time of year it plays over and over in my mind.

Oh, What Do You Do in the Summertime?

Oh, what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is green?
Do you fish in a stream, or lazily dream on the banks as the clouds go by?
Is that what you do? So do I!

Oh, what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is green?
Do you swim in a pool, to keep yourself cool, or swing in a tree up high?
Is that what you do? So do I!

Oh, what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is green?
Do you march in parades, or drink lemonades, or count all the stars in the sky?
Is that what you do? So do I!

It feels like the summer is quickly ending and school is fast approaching. I passed my math test and get to start with Math 1010. The test proctor smiled as I came back again to take the test and I said to her I hope you never have to see me again. After the test was over, by the way there are only 14 questions, I knew I had got the score I needed. I nearly jumped out of my seat and ran up front, she grinned and told me she would let me enroll in 1010. I told her I would probably scream a little in the elevator on the way down. Thanks for all your help Josh and Adrienne.

The basement is almost done, and I hope to NEVER have a flooded basement again. Bart has been a trooper through all of the chaos. The boys have not had a bedroom most of the summer and we still like each other.

Like the song says I hope to lazily dream and watch as the clouds go by ...... I hope you do too.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770396090259927270.post-2412678651185551862009-07-06T22:17:00.006-06:002009-07-06T22:33:48.477-06:00Never Bored at my houseSince my last post I have been to Idaho again to help with my parents and visit with my family. My basement flooded and I hosted a 5 day family gathering with 20 of the family here. We played hard, ate well, slept little and laughed a lot!!! <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM41MOU0HcfvV3hy00Y3dmna1XYtfR1SjRZPkEZ57ndZY-REigi9nYp3C-_B_7KDCyoV0TWgRR_PD9tspYXUuLoPHJirsci7AIB5f1DV0x64vKCOHGoBzjYKtNH8GqN5Bq2O-aLuMfTtM/s320/022.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355568247339530946" />

We went to our neighborhood breakfast and were served omelets, texas toast, watermelon and juice and milk. The kids all made matching 4th of July celebration shirts, stamped with original stamps made from pasta and fabric paint.

Aren't they cute??

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFKqCOElCK50O8W5xKnN3VJSCxn6eDOII39RE4na1sxWlvGtm8SimN0Cw6BbIyNt6Et6vUS10YGl5hRgT3hhSmmRb7gLBtH0RzP_hSw3GSODkrV30Etr7itjf7dr1Xlwy7B169pY86RMQ/s320/032.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355569210690659986" />

Another thing we did was take everyone minus a few men (Bart, Grandpa and Hayden) and went to the DI. Everyone likes to go on this treasure hunt, grandma usually finds dishes to add to her collection and the young boys found AWSOME toy guns and the little girls added to their ever growing stuffed animal collections. I think Adrienne may have won with the most original and nostalgic item . . . a Saved By The Bell board game for $1.00. It only took 3 vans and a couple of hours for this adventure.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-i8nbUZ9JUlnokfTM81w8x1QWshi7WwskaJ25hp9xS7fWTcwV0025YOzk0VZ6r5JJcGOb04pXIsztWcmfDqF-DmTaqKgxNoBpKbrudFgBtzORM0O5DS5cQF66Vh24Qw9qE5XoqLEBS4g/s320/006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355570504088558194" />

Baseball in the park is always fun, mostly laughing at the moms and helping the kids hit the ball. I still have one of my sets from my childhood. I was in Idaho taking care of my mom and during her physical therapy I went over to the little fabric store on main street. While there I saw these, I squealed a little bit and now have them all ready for someone to play with. I am sure there will be a lot of fun to be had with these cute treasures. I cut them all apart and fused them to felted wool, I fused the dolls to a heavy duty product you would use to make the bottom of a bag. I know my girls will make fun of me, but I know my little nieces will love to play with Aunt Shauna!!!Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03855072766505637629noreply@blogger.com5
