Let them eat Cake

I don't know when or where that saying came from but sometimes you just need CAKE. At our house the cake of choice is "Very Best Chocolate Cake". I grew up having this cake and I think it is the only chocolate cake to make when you need that comfort that only cake can bring. If my camera picked this up you would notice that the page is spotted, spilled on and torn.




I like how I can make this cake as a sheet cake or in a 9x13 pan.



Here is the recipe:

3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup veg. oil
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup boiling water
1 cup buttermilk

Combine and place in greased and floured 9x13 pan. Bake @ 350 for 40 minutes. For a sheet pan bake for about 20 minutes.





Enjoy and don't forget sometimes you just need some CAKE!!!

Wii Fit Fun

Our family has jumped onto the Wii Fit band wagon and so far everyone is getting younger and working up a little sweat. My first attempt at the game, was with yoga and my boys were amazed that I could do the poses in my jeans and stay centered and balanced. Next was the hula hoop game and I caught 5 hoops and made 196 revolutions in the time allowed, but when it came time for the soccer game I really struggled. The purpose of the game is to head the soccer balls and dodge the cleats and panda heads (don't know why there are flying panda heads), I was always taught to avoid the ball flying for your head so consequently I failed miserably. After that I tried the ski jump, let's just say I ended up as a giant snow ball more than once. Over all I think some good times will be happening at our house laughing at the MOM.

My Guys Birthday

Happy Birthday Bart!!! Today Bart is over 40 but under 50 years old. He is the father of our 4 children and he loves to be with the family. He doesn't like anyone to make a fuss about him, he always feels like he could do more for others. He often underestimates his worth. I love this crazy guy and I am glad I said yes!!!

50 cent transformation

We have a $ store in town that has .88 cent Tuesday sometimes and I like to poke around for a bargain. I found this set of tile magnet for .50 cents and transformed these into these cute black and white magnets. I trimmed them a little bit better since I took the picture, but I think they will be a cute addition to a gift. It was a quick and easy distraction from a gray winter day. I know there are so many things to be done but sometimes a girl just needs to play with pretty paper, scissors and some glue.

Crazy Kids

Meet my children, they will all tell you that I am only "cool" because of them. Hayden has the blue graphic T-shirt on, next to him is the "small one", Joshua, below him is Jessica and next to her is Adrienne. They all joined my family within 7 years, I thought I would go crazy and most days I think I did. I like my children, they are bright, witty, sarcastic, loving and they like each other. We have a lot of fun together, I like talking to them and just hanging out. I like to play games with them, but I do like to win and they know it. When the girls come home from college, no one sleeps and I will never know what happens after I go to bed, but I do know they have fun and do some really silly things.

I love my crazy kids!!!

Treasure Hunt finds

For the price of a combo meal at most fast food places, I found a shirt for me for $3.00, a belt for Bart for .50 cents, baseball pants for Josh for $1.50, a frame for valentines day for $1.50 and a gift for my sister's small children for .75 cents. Happy Day!!! By the way the shirt is a Gloria Vanderbilt. I went to job service today and even though I don't have a job right now my family is so blessed. We have our home, we have food in the cupboard and clothes that are clean and I can always find little treasures to make me smile.
